Dakota Fanning appeared in New York on May 7th looking very grown up in a lavender organza gown
designed by Louis Vuitton where she was decked to the nines in a significant amount of jewelry. The 18-
year old actress wore 19th Century-style brooches in her hair at the back of her head that pulled some
of her blond locks back while the rest draped elegantly across her shoulders. She also wore a beautiful
pearl and diamond necklace on her left wrist. The brooches and the bracelet were by Fred Leighton. She
was all dressed up for the 2012 Costume Institute Gala, which was held at the Metropolitan Museum of
Art in New York City. The event attracts a significant amount of celebrities every year and is often called
the New York Oscars. There is a theme to the event each year. This year’s theme was Schiaparelli and
Prada: Impossible Conversations. A look at the differences and similarities of the two Italian designers,
20th century designer Elsa Schiaparelli and 21st century designer, Miuccia Prada. Other actresses in
attendance included Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristen Stewart, Nina Dobrev and many others.

The actress has been in the spotlight for a number of years. While she is most known for her work in
War of the Worlds opposite Tom Cruise and I am Sam opposite Sean Penn, she has also gotten a lot
of notoriety by playing one of the Volturi, Jane, in the Twilight Saga. Part 2 of Breaking Dawn will be
released later this year, where Dakota Fanning will be making an appearance yet again as one of the
powerful vampires. She also has several movies in post-production that will be hitting theatres in 2012
and early 2013. This includes “The Motel Life”, “Now is Good” and “Effie.” Dakota has been nominated
for over 35 awards throughout her career, including Screen Actor’s Guild Awards, MTV Movie Awards
and many others. She has won 21 awards, ranging from a Saturn Award for the “Best Performance
from a Younger Actor” to “Best Frightened Performance” from the MTV Movie Awards. The actress
is still highly sought after in Hollywood, which leads to the possibility of seeing her dressed in more
extravagant outfits.
