Do As Karl Lagerfeld Does: Start Your Own Jewelry Vault

Friday, October 26th, 2012

Little known fact: Karl Lagerfeld wears his signature fingerless leather gloves so he may easily access all the jewels locked away a secret vault (in his evil genius lair?). That vault opens with fingerprint identification, natch! We couldn’t make this up if we tried.

And you thought those lambskin gloves were just a fashion statement!

Here at Shop Lucky, we side with Karl. We believe in the power of a well-thought out jewelry vault, inventoried with classic pieces, albeit on a smaller scale. We think investing in luxury is smart for two major reasons.

Luxury guarantees fine and everlasting quality. Only the best diamonds and precious stones are used in designer pieces. There is a standard that all pieces must meet.

Luxury holds its value. The actual retail cost of fine handbags and jewelry appreciates every year. Cartier bi-annually hikes their prices: Love bracelet, anyone?  In 2009, I bought a beautiful medium flap classic Chanel bag, as I bow to Coco and Karl.  My bag now sells for $2,000.00 more than I paid!

Jewelry is the same way. Your Cartier, your Tiffany, your Chanel Fine Jewelry. It will all stand the test of time in both quality and value.

Want to start that vault on a high note?

How about this GORGEOUS Cartier yellow gold diamond, sapphire, emerald and ruby bracelet?

Nicole Kidman Walks the Red Carpet in Cartier

Monday, July 9th, 2012

In Cannes, France, Nicole Kidman walked the red carpet on May 24th at the 65th Annual Film Festival,
held at the Palais des Festivals. In her standard awe-inspiring beauty, she wore a coral one-shouldered
gown. She had two beautiful white gold and diamond bracelets on her wrist. She also had very elegant
white gold and diamond earrings that dangled from her earlobes. All of her jewelry was by Cartier
Jewelry. Nicole Kidman was accompanied on the red carpet by her husband, country music singer, Keith
Urban. Keith made a special trip to accompany her, traveling 35 hours from Sydney to Cannes. He’s been
in Sydney filming “The Voice” and his appearance in Cannes meant “everything” to Kidman. Her latest
film, “The Paperboy” was being screened at the festival.

Nicole Kidman is no newbie on the red carpet. Nor is she a newbie at Cannes. This is the actress’ fifth
time at Cannes, so she’s used to the interviews and press conferences that take place along the French
coastal resort with all of its many palm trees. “The Paperboy” is a steamy Southern Noir that is directed
by Lee Daniels. It stars Matthew McConaughey and Zac Efron. Prior to the premiere, the moving had
received mixed reactions, which is why the cast was so awed when the audience gave a standing ovation
for a solid fifteen minutes after viewing the movie. Zac Efron was teary eyed at the ovation, saying
it was a very profound moment of his life. Various other cast members also wept with joy, though
Kidman stayed dry eyed through the ordeal. She admits that she was appreciative and it was the longest
ovation she’s ever received at Cannes, but it wasn’t enough to bring the Aussie-born star to tears. “The
Paperboy” was up for the Palme d’Or prize, however it lost out to Austrian film “Love”. Kidman also has
another movie coming out on HBO entitled “Hemingway & Gellhorn” which will be viewed at the Cannes
Film Festival. The actress also has several other movies under works – one which will be released later in
2012 as well as one she is currently filming and another in pre-production.

Cartier’s Jewel-Toned New Commercial

Tuesday, March 13th, 2012

Cartier has been synonymous with fine and elegant jewelry since 1847. It has graced the throats, fingers
and ears of celebrities worldwide for decades. The company has always used a panther in the designs of
its jewelry so it’s only natural for the Panther to come alive in its newest commercial, showing the global
reach of the jewelry.

This new commercial, entitled “L ‘Odyssee de Cartier” is the company’s first attempt at a cinematic epic
to portray the value and inspiration of the jewelry line. The commercial borders between the dreamy
idea of traveling around the world with the reality of owning jewelry. Through computer generated
graphics as well as a real Panther, the designer has been able to create a visually stunning commercial
that has gotten the attention of many.

The panther has been used by Cartier for many years. This feline has made its way through the entire line
of jewelry, including in the form of rings and bracelets shaped as this jungle cat. The eyes of the cat have been colored with a number of gemstones and the body of the cat has been found in gold, platinum,
silver and many other metals to capture the hearts of many people around the world.

What’s spectacular about the commercial is that we finally get to see the Panther come alive. The
commercial begins by taking you down a boutique street and in the window of a Cartier jewelry store.
There, inside of a metal cage, on a raised platform is a stunning platinum Panther with black onyx spots.
The emerald eyes appear almost lifelike as the camera continues to zoom in on the animal.

Before long, the power of the Cartier jewels have come alive. The panther breaks out of its jeweled mold
and diamonds fly everywhere. The prowess of the panther is felt as it steps through the window of the
Cartier store and is transported to a snowy environment, taking steps through the fields of Russia.

All the while, jewels glimmer and hypnotize in the background. White gold, yellow gold and rose gold
rings are suddenly at the edge of a cliff. This shows the span of the Cartier line, allowing you to envision
various jewels on the ring for your own fingers. The panther, however, has them all lined up in front of
him, walking through them, onto his next adventure.

Soon the panther is in the Orient where a giant gold-toned serpent-like beast coils out in front of the
panther’s path. The panther remains unmoved by this beast. As the serpent continues to wind about, the
panther moves forward.

Before long, the panther is in a stunning room with a diamond chandelier hanging above. A golden lizard
is pictured on the ground, showing what a jungle of Cartier animals would really look like, given the
opportunity to make such a thing a reality. The dream state is continued when the commercial brings
into light a stunning Tree of Life, reminiscent of one seen in Africa. Instead of leaves, crystals, diamonds and various semiprecious stones dangle from the white gold or platinum branches. Jeweled birds flutter about.

Just past the tree, the panther walks forward, only to be confronted by a large elephant, evident that the
panther has now made his way into India. Many of the same jewels can be seen here, encrusted on the elephant as well as throughout the landscape.

A bi-plane flies past the head of the elephant. The panther decides to run along the landscape, leaping
boldly onto the plane where it makes its way into Paris. The golden Eifel Tower is no match for the
panther as he lands effortlessly in the city for lovers.

The panther walks through the streets of Paris. Meanwhile, the commercial makes a few zoom-ins on
the clock tower, which looks like a large replica of the face of a Cartier watch. With the classic roman
numerals going around the dial and the Cartier logo on the face, it is obvious that this dream is all about
the Cartier jewels – as well as the commercial’s desire to sell more Cartier watches.

The panther climbs up a gorgeous flight of stairs inside what looks like a palace. He enters a room where
a beautiful woman in a red dress is standing. The two look at each other and her wrist shows that she is
wearing a panther bracelet.

The reality of the commercial is slowed down and the panther ends up back in its case, looking like jewelry
instead of a wild beast. The commercial closes to show a red Cartier jewelry box closing, with the
elegant words of Cartier jewelry spoken at the end.

For the first attempt at a cinematic approach to a commercial, Cartier has shined brighter than the
jewels of their many lines. The music in the background of the commercial keeps the focus on the
action of the panther as well as the subtle displays of jewelry throughout the atmosphere. Nothing is too
obvious. Nothing is spoken throughout the entire commercial until the very end, subtly announcing
Cartier.

The commercial has captured the attention of people all around the world. Cartier, which is featured in
every major company around the globe, tips its hat to its history and heritage in this odyssey around the
globe. It is very effective as a marketing piece because it is simple and subtle. No one is talking about
why you should buy Cartier and why it’s better than other jewelers. It speaks for itself in the smooth and
composed panther that goes on the trip around the world.

Through a beautiful blend of dream and reality, the commercial symbolizes everything that Cartier is
known for. The jewelry company has chosen to focus on the history of the jewelry and the elegance of
it all rather than opting to fill the commercial with celebrities. As a result, they have created a timeless
advertisement that is beautiful not only because of the jewels but because of the natural atmosphere it
contains as well.

CARTIER 18k GOLD EMERALD GIANT ELEPHANT BROOCH PIN

Friday, March 9th, 2012

Click here to make an offer on this beautiful piece

If you thought that Cartier only made amazingly beautiful watches, you have not been paying attention to the innovative concepts they have been producing over the course of their development as a company. Of course, they are still known as the company that first introduced the world to a practical wristwatch, but they have greatly expanded their product line to include many other kinds of jewelry and accessories, usually in versatile collections. This 18k gold emerald giant elephant brooch pin, for example, is as rare as it is unique. While the elephant, itself, is 18k yellow gold the tusks are 18k white gold, but that is not the end all of the details you will find on this stunningly accented piece. For example, this large brooch pin (53.5mm x 42mm x 15mm) also has two (very small) emerald eyes. You will also find details in the toes, face, and body, as well as royal and assay French hallmarks on the trunk.

Pieces like this highly detailed 18k yellow (and white) gold elephant with emerald accents sell at Christies for several thousands of dollars, but you can also find Cartier items at more than 200 stores in 125 countries around the world, as well as four emblematic boutiques in Paris, London, New York, and Tokyo. This piece, in particular, will add a complex but subtle set of stunning color to any outfit. It is quite large so you might want to wear it with something that needs a little pop, but don’t forget about the hint of green in the emerald eyes. Green is a great compliment to many other colors including simple black, deep red, royal blue, and natural earth tones so you’ll get some great variety out of this piece. You should also remember that Cartier likes to design their pieces in corresponding collections, much like a full fashion line. Thus, there may be other pieces—with similar style, color, and accents—that also help to establish a cohesive sense of style and comprehension.

Cartier is a French luxury jeweler that has been wowing fashion forward sensibilities for more than 150 years. This family of jewelers has been designing notable pieces of artwork for celebrities and world leaders for near the duration of their lifespan, with perhaps the most notable development: the first practical wristwatch—known as the “Santos”—in 1904. Although the company is now no longer associated with the family that started the business, it continues to represent their history of serving royalty and other distinguished figures. What began in 1847 when Louis-Francois Cartier took over his master’s workshop in Paris, has become a worldwide phenomenon. It started with an innocent complaint from a Brazilian pioneer aviator, Alberto Santos-Dumont (the namesake), that pocket watches are unreliable and impractical in his profession, and has grown to include not just some of the most exquisite watches currently in circulation around the world, but also rare items like this 18k gold emerald giant elephant brooch pin with white gold tusks.

Lady Gaga Goes Gaga for Cartier

Friday, February 10th, 2012
Lady Gaga has been known for her outlandish jewelry, her crazy costumes and her odd behavior. But
she does wear designers from time to time, especially Cartier. When she showed up at her sister’s high
school graduation, she may have been wearing a sheer lace outfit and a hat that looked more like a
black veil, but she also knew how to make a statement with a very luxurious ring. She was donning the
Cartier Panther Head ring that the company has made. This particular one with an 18-karat yellow gold
panther head that featured onyx stones inlaid throughout it. There were also peridot stones as the
tiger’s eyes, making a beautiful addition to her right hand, worn on the middle finger.

The busy lady has been busy lately with entertaining her monsters, the clever nickname given to fans
of Lady Gaga. She just recently hosted a Thanksgiving Special on television, which she was completely
in charge of. It was directed by her and she conducted interviews, performed and spoke candidly about
her memories of the holiday. Millions of viewers tuned in to watch it Thanksgiving evening. She has also
been working on getting behind the camera a little more often for some of her music videos.

Cartier has been a jeweler in the industry for many years. While the company has made watches,
diamond jewelry and much more. Louis Cartier is famous for his wildcats, which he has cast in white
gold, yellow gold and platinum. The eyes are often made to glitter with emeralds or peridots. Long
before Lady Gaga sported the ring, the Duchess of Windsor wore them in 1948. The panther has
been seen on bracelets, rings, earrings and other pieces of jewelry. Throughout the world, Cartier is
synonymous with luxury. There are Cartier boutiques around the globe as well as a fully functioning
website. Many high-end jewelry stores also offer Cartier watches and other lines provided by the
designer. Various metals and stones are found on the jewelry and the company has known to provide
vintage pieces as well as very modern ones as well.
